HE. SILAS ALI AGARA
DG NDE.
The paper presented by H.E. Silas Ali Agara, the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Jos, addresses the critical issue of job creation as a fundamental element in achieving sustainable development and the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In his presentation titled “POLICY, LEGAL AND INSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORKS FOR SUSTAINABLE JOB CREATION IN NIGERIA,” HE. Agara emphasized the centrality of job creation in the policies of African countries, particularly Nigeria. He highlighted the alarming unemployment rates, which have driven many youths towards illegal activities. The NDE boss stressed the need for a comprehensive strategy to link jobs to the incomes they generate, which is crucial for addressing the unemployment crisis.

HE. Agara also underscored the vital role that NIPSS can play in assisting the Nigerian government in devising effective strategies to combat unemployment. By leveraging the institute’s capacity for policy research, the government can benefit from evidence-based advice that could inform more effective and sustainable employment policies.

He expressed enthusiasm for the event’s participants and announced that the NDE is poised to roll out new policies and programs designed to create jobs for Nigeria’s unemployed youth. HE. Agara recognized the hard work and determination of the NIPSS management team, expressing his commitment to partnering with them on job creation and empowerment initiatives.

In his closing remarks, HE. Agara urged the youth to stay focused and avoid negative behaviors that could hinder their progress, reinforcing his commitment to supporting their development through the NDE’s forthcoming programs.
