To combat unemployment in Nigeria, the National Directorate of Employment has been providing training in various skills and trades to unemployed individuals for many years. NDE continues to offer training, expanding the list of available skills over time to ensure that a greater number of unemployed Nigerians can take advantage of these programs.

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is advancing its efforts through technology-driven initiatives aimed at bridging the difference between skill acquisition and market access for unemployed individuals in Nigeria, including both skilled and unskilled artisans. This proactive approach is encapsulated in a program called the NDE Flexible Job Initiative (NFJI), which focuses on linking unemployed individuals—regardless of their skill levels—to their desired job markets.

The skilled individuals can market and sell their services, while the unskilled participants can act as resellers, promoting and selling the services of the skilled workers while simultaneously learning those skills. This connection is facilitated by a GPS-enabled software application that automatically links buyers with service providers across various services. Additionally, a remote job platform is integrated to grant local and international market access to these service providers, who are the primary beneficiaries of the NFJI program.
